Pensly is developed and operated by Mohamed Hesham Ahmed, based in Milan, Italy, who is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at any time at support@pensly.app.
We use your information only to run Pensly: signing you in, delivering nudges and notifications, running Sync Challenges and calculating results, running the Pensly Game, providing Pensly Plus, preventing abuse and keeping the service secure, and handling support requests. We never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
If you allow access to your contacts, Pensly checks the phone numbers in your address book against registered Pensly accounts so you can see which of your contacts use Pensly. Only phone numbers are sent for this check — contact names and other contact details never leave your device, and the numbers of people who are not Pensly users are not stored.
Other Pensly users who have your phone number in their contacts can see that you use Pensly, together with your display name and profile photo.
When you send a nudge, the recipient sees the mood or message you selected, when it was sent, and its delivery status. Nudges are private between you and the recipient — they are never shared publicly or with any third party.
In the Pensly Game, the friend you send a quiz to sees your picks only after they finish playing it, and the results are visible only to the two of you. The share image is made on your device, shows no names unless you turn them on, and is shared only if you choose to share it.
We use trusted providers to operate Pensly. They process data only on our behalf and for these purposes:
Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
We process your data because it is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract); for our legitimate interests in keeping Pensly secure and preventing abuse; on the basis of your consent for contacts access and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings; and to meet legal obligations, such as keeping purchase records for accounting and tax purposes.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Sign-in verification codes are kept only briefly. Reports are kept for as long as needed to review them and keep Pensly safe. For the Pensly Game, each player's latest 10 sent and 10 received quizzes are kept; older ones are removed after 30 days, and the list of recently seen question pairs is kept only for a few weeks. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted as described in section 9. Records of completed purchases are kept, without being linked to you, where required for accounting and tax purposes.
You can delete your account at any time directly in the app: open Profile → Privacy → Delete Account. You can also ask us to delete it by emailing support@pensly.app from any address — include the phone number registered to your account.
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, profile photo, phone number and nudges within 30 days. Sync Challenges you shared with another person remain visible to them without being linked to you. Game quizzes still in progress are cancelled, and finished quiz results remain visible to the other player without being linked to you.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Pensly Plus subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google — cancel yours in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@pensly.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
We send push notifications for nudges, challenge updates, game quizzes and reminders. You can turn each type off in Pensly's Notifications settings, or disable notifications entirely in your device settings.
All data is encrypted in transit, and access to our systems and database is restricted and protected by access controls.
Pensly is not intended for anyone under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
